The CD did not work, so I went to metgear page on the Netgear site to see if they had any new drivers for Windows 7. I tried all manner of things. Both bit and bit drivers for netgewr device are listed in the Windows Update Catalog: I’ve used them on three different Windows 7 computers, and they work fine. Using the above procedure I mentioned, I could install my WG driver v2 from MS update, by separately downloading the driver on the win7 desktop not using Windows update which anyway didn’t install the driver.
The only thing I can possibly conclude is that while the adapter has been confirmed working in 32 bit Windows 7 no one has reported it working in 64 bit windows.
I tried earlier versions of the driver in compatibility modes.
